The new SIR-3100T AIT2 tape recorder from Sony provides
the user with an option to use newer technology
recording techniques along with maintaining some
degree of compatibility with the existing SIR-1000
32 channel recorder. For those people who feel more
comfortable using tape technology the SIR-3100T
provides the best solution.
The concept uses a tape drive control unit employing
AIT2 technology. The unit can be configured with
up to four SIR-3032i 32 channel expansion units
to provide 128 channels at 1.25KHz but with recording
times around 24 hours. For the higher bandwidth
applications using one SIR-3032i unit will give
32 channels at 20KHz for 6 hours.
For customers that have existing SIR-1000 AIT1 tapes
with recordings up to 32 channels the SIR-3100T
will replay these tapes.
